What is a "Novice Adult"?

A “Novice Adult” is simply a person who is 18 - 29 years old. A person who is just getting started in life and who has questions about how to do so.

That’s it…

And let me tell you something important:

We’re all Novice Adults in some capacity. I would argue in most capacities.

That’s right. We all have questions about getting started and how to do so. We all have questions about what we are doing, whether we can or can’t do it, or should or shouldn’t do it.

When you’re over 29, you’ve simply become an expert on hiding your novice-ness.

The best part is that there is no shame in being a novice adult. In fact, I teach that it’s important to be a novice in many areas of life. Novice-ness shows that you’re willing to grow and learn, empathize and sympathize, to fail and succeed.

When you believe you’re an expert, you lose the vulnerability of someone who doesn’t know. When you become an expert, or believe you are an expert, you cut off opportunities to learn about whatever you are an expert in. **

My point is that being a novice is the best way to move through life.

If you’re a Novice Adult, you're in the right place. There are very few people (if any) who encourage novice-ness in adults. In my life coaching practice, I will teach you to stop feeling like a novice while at the same time, helping you learn to embrace the fun and excitement of being a novice!

Instead of feeling like a failure because you don’t know where to start or you haven’t done anything important yet, you can CHOOSE to think how amazing it is to have the opportunity to live into your novice-ness.

Welcome to Novice Adult-dom. You’re gonna love it!

** This is called “the expert blind spot.” I wrote about it in my doctoral dissertation. I believe four people have read it. EVER. I can send you the link…
