Before I get into how you choose a good story to tell, I need to talk about how you are going to tell that story well. This essay requires writing that the College Admissions Officer will be able to see, hear, touch, smell, feel, and taste.
So how do we do that?
In this video, I talk about how you "explode the moment," how you "show, don't tell," and how you can make your story sing. You do this by engaging your audience, appealing to your audience's emotions, and using power words.
While this might be the most important piece of writing that you have ever created, your reader (the College Admissions Officer) has probably not been engaged by an applicant - or at least not often. That is going to set you apart from the other applicants.
Let's get at it!
